Travel

The nearest airports are located in Bydgoszcz (50 km), Gdańsk (170 km), Poznań (150 km), and Warsaw (210 km). Torun has direct railway connections with all large cities in Poland. Regular coach services operate from Toruń to many domestic and European cities. The access to different means of transportation can be found here.

Transportation in Toruń

Railway station (Toruń Główny) – take a bus or taxi to get to the city center (your hotel or school venue at the Institute of Physics at Grudziądzka 5/7).

The bus station (Dworzec Autobusowy) is also located very close to the Institute of Physics.

Bus: lines 22, 27, 12, 14 connect the railway station to the city centre. The stop near the city centre is the second stop, immediately after the bridge over the Vistula river (Plac Rapackiego).
Bus tickets, available from newspaper agents, cost about 2.8 PLN. Stamp the ticket once inside the bus. Tickets can also be purchased from ticket machines installed on most buses and trains. For more information see HERE.

Taxi: taxis are generally very affordable and recommended by us. The fares are displayed in the side windows, and consist of the initial payment (4 to 6.5 PLN) and per kilometer fare (2 to 3.6 PLN). The ride to the city centre takes about 5 minutes and costs about 12-15 PLN (3 EUR).

Bydgoszcz Airport (BZG)

Bydgoszcz is 45 km from Toruń. It is possible to get from Bydgoszcz to Toruń by train (timetable here) or bus (see here). For the passengers of Lufthansa’s new route Frankfurt – Bydgoszcz it is possible to use a dedicated bus on route Toruń- Bydgoszcz Airport- Toruń (more info).

Bus line 80 (timetable here) connects the Airport with Bydgoszcz Main Railway Station (Bydgoszcz Główna) and Bydgoszcz Bus Station (Bydgoszcz Dworzec Autobusowy). There is also a possibility to travel from Bydgoszcz to Toruń by taxi (phone: +48 523 444 000 or +48 523 222 222).

Bus line 80 (timetable here) connects the Airport with Bydgoszcz Main Railway Station (Bydgoszcz Główna) and Bydgoszcz Bus Station (Bydgoszcz Dworzec Autobusowy).

BZG airport – Toruń by BUS (direct)

Direct bus operated by Arriva from Bydgoszcz Airport to Toruń bus station (Dworzec Miasto) (approx. 90 min., transport is free of charge with a valid Lufthansa boarding pass).

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN)

Gdańsk is 175 km away from Toruń. The easiest way to travel from Gdańsk Airport to Toruń is by direct bus (see TransLineAir). Another convenient way to travel from Gdańsk to Toruń is by train or bus. The train leaves from Gdańsk Main Railway Station (Gdańsk Główny). Check timetables trains, Arriva Bus, Flixbus. To get to Gdańsk Main Railway Station (Gdańsk Główny) or Gdańsk Bus Station (Dworzec Autobusowy) one can use suburban train shuttle (SKM), bus (see timetables for lines 210 or N3) as well as taxi (important: use only licensed taxi services!). Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)

Warsaw Chopin Airport is the biggest airport in Poland and is 265 km away from Toruń. The most convenient way to travel from Warsaw to Toruń is by train. The trains leave from Warsaw Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna) or Warsaw West Railway Station (Warszawa Zachodnia). For train timetables see here. Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI)

Warsaw Modlin Airport is the second airport in Warsaw and low-cost airlines operate there. It is located 40 km north from the Warsaw city centre. There is one direct bus connection from Modlin (see here). Another convenient way to travel from Warsaw to Toruń is by train. The trains leave from Warsaw Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna) or Warsaw West Railway Station (Warszawa Zachodnia). For train timetables see here.
